IPL 2018 is coming in few days and there are lots of coming out which can affect the gameplay. One of them is to use decision review system, which is short for DRS will be implementing in the IPL this year. It was rumored way before in December but today, we get final new of decision review system in IPL 2018.
IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla confirmed on Wednesday that the Decision Review System (DRS) will be implemented for the first time in the history of the Indian Premier League. IPL will be second independent league after Pakistan super league to use DRS in IPL.
How will decision review system be used in IPL 2018?
As we know that DRS is a system which let player question the decision of umpire by going to the review. When a player uses their decision review system and if the decision was wrong, the umpire has to change it and follow the DRS decision. This year in IPL 2018 decision review system will be giving out to the player with the option of taking 1 DRS per team. Which mean any team can use the decision review system in IPL 2018 for only once in every match.
“Yes, this idea has been going around for many years,” said Shukla at a press conference in Mumbai, confirming that the decision review system will be used in IPL 2018 if a team challenges an umpiring decision
The decision to use decision review system in IPL 2018 was in the news when BCCI hold a meeting in December and ask Denis Burns, the ICC umpires’ coach and former Australia pacer-turned umpire Paul Reiffel to teach about DRS to 10 local umpires.
IPL 2018 is the 11th season of Indian premier league and its been in the question for a long time to use decision review system in IPL as it was already been used in all another international format. Last month in Pakistan super league, decision review system was used and we were wondering its about time that we also implement decision review system in IPL 2018.
The rumors got cleared when IPL chairman Raji Shukla told the reporter in the news conference on Wednesday that they will allow using decision review system in IPL 2018 this year. He said it was long overdue and the idea was late in being implemented to the Indian premier league format.
With decision review system in IPL 2018, we can see lots of change as we know there are few games in past IPL which were lost by bad umpiring decision. Once the DRS will be implemented in IPL 2018, there will be less bad decision by umpire and player can get a chance to question the umpire.
IPL 2018 with decision review system could bring a massive change to the gameplay and we are sure that it will help MS Dhoni as he is known to use decision review system quite well.
